Goodbye Alaska…. the end of an era
April 29, 2018
Today is just a week shy of two years
since my arrival in Texas
and I thought I would share
a sad personal moment
(in pictures)
when I finally surrendered my
Alaskan citizenship.

I have to be honest that truck was washed only three times since I arrived here and i feel it’s pain at not knowing what a good coat of wax feels like.

I’m surprised that you didn’t opt for the Amateur Radio plates. You’re also missing the blue barrel (haha). God Bless and 73

My oh my, a man after my own heart; a clean truck! Did you save the Ak. plates for a wall decoration? I think after a record-setting 26.5″ of snow in April, Mike & I are into the clean car season ourselves. Now that you’ve made up your mind, your life will get easier. Good thing you don’t live here. The state in its infinite wisdom, installed a new motor vehicle registration system at a cost of $90+million. I bought a car last June; still waiting for my title! Now they want another 10+million to “fix” it. Another case of gov’t not being able to find its rear-end even though all their fingers are flashlights. GRRRRRRR!
You’re apartment building looks fresh & updated.

Yes I did save the plates and hope Tricia can mount one on the wall of her bar/night club back in Fairbanks.

Hey Pete – Yes, I felt the reverse when I finally obtained Alaskan plates for my vehicle in December of 2013; I’d FINALLY become an Alaskan! Sometimes it’s the little things that help us accept big changes. To be honest you should be pleased you are not up here now; the weather has been nasty with continual drizzle/rain, rain/snow mix and just wet, heavy snow. A bit of sunshine would be great as well as some of those 50° F high temps we were seeing a week and a half back. The last couple of days we never made 40° F but we never dropped below freezing, either. At least you’re seeing some solid spring weather..!
