Hello…. can you hear me now?

May 6, 2019

***maybe getting older does slow down those neurons in our brain because as evidenced by my posting history of late this old mans neurons have gone on strike. So just maybe its time for something new like just writing whatever passes through my brain without filter, regardless of subject matter and with no concern for posting length. Now in this day and age of political correctness I may step on some toes out there but then at 73 should I really be concerned or happily accept the fact that I can still rattle some people!

….today we are going to range far from what I usually write about and take a look at something that bothers me when I think to much about it, the it being what happens when one prays. I know this posting will not attract much interest but I have thought about this off and on for decades and thought I would throw it out there for those of you who read my blog and believe in God.

Anyway I have a routine every morning and part of that is before doing anything else saying what I call my morning prayers. I always start with the Our Father and despite how much pain my body feels I then thank God for allowing me this day. Then I go on to ask for help/intercession for those in my family or those I know that he removes some sickness or just walks with them on their road of life. The latter part of my morning prayers is my naming every family member and personal friend who has died that God will bring them closer to his side in heaven.

Yes simple and to the point, now comes the thought that continually bothers me… why would he be listening to (my) prayers? Why would God address my concerns for others when there are people the world over in far greater pain and suffering?

At times one can hear how deafening it is at a baseball game crowded with people now magnify that by millions upon millions of people all praying at the same time… all asking for their pain and suffering to be lifted, what makes me think God would even listen to this sinners prayers?

Yes I know
believing in God is a matter of faith
but there are times
I can’t see why he would listen
to my pleadings
when drowned out
by those much more worthy.

It’s what you believe that matters most, in my opinion.

Because Jesus died for each and every one of us–what we process from that is up to us..None are worthy with out Christ’s Sacrifice. Paul teaches, that God will do what God will do.. It is up to us to accept his Grace and Judgement.
Im sure knows what He is doing.. Im just grateful for each and every moment in Grace.

Pete, God loves you more than you can imagine. When you confess Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart, God raised him from the dead, you are saved. Jesus said to pray in his name and God your Father will hear you. It is because of Jesus and his paying the price for us that God our father hears us. Just as you as a father to your children love to talk with them and grant their requests, so God loves to hear from you, talk with you and answer your requests. You are important to him. All of our requests are not always answered the way we would like but he does hear and answer. You and your concerns are dear to his heart!

    Hi Pete,
God loves each and every one of us. He can listen to all of us at the same time because He can do just about anything. That includes creating the whole cosmos. Yes, I really do think that prayer works!

Great question Pete. Simple answer is that He is God.. Not human. Bible says He even knows how many hairs on your head. We WILL AND CAN NEVER understans. I suppose that is our problem as humans, something that cannot be answered through science or whatever can’t be real. . That is really our weakness and why faith is what builds our hope.

Hi, Pete,There is nothing half so much worth doing as STUDYING the word of God in depth. So many of your doubts and questions are answered there, and when God Himself teaches you the answers, all doubts will be gone. But HE has to teach you.God has no trouble whatsoever listening to every prayer of every human on the face of the Earth for all time past and time to come. God knows the numbers of hairs on our heads (and on the heads of every creature he made … and every atom in every created thing…) So, God is OMNIpotent and OMNIscient. WHY does He bother with us? For no other reason but that He loves us. He loves you! He loves me. LOVE would be a wonderful word to study in His Word. Can’t think of anything half so much worth doing then a word study on “love” in the Bible.Jesus said, “If you continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”Praying for you. 73 is not too old to begin serious Bible study. JaneSent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone
