Observations on the state of the union…. that defy logic

February 2, 2018

I sat confounded when I first heard the report about what the ACLU was upset about in the Presidents State of the Union speech. I know I am hearing impaired and lately many things get by me because I am daydreaming but this just could not be right. Then again when you add this to how the democrats did not applaud the many milestones President Trump achieved for, ‘we the people’, in his first year is it any wonder that the (American) civil liberties union was mad that President Trump used the word American 8 times in his speech?

I will not make this a long rant about how foolish some democrats looked during the speech like when congressman Luis Gutierrez from Illinois fled ( and democrats around him patted him on the back as he exited ) when the chant of USA, USA rang through the house chamber following President Trumps saying, “To young Americans who shed their blood on the shores of Normandy, and the fields beyond. And others, who went down in the waters of the Pacific and the skies over Asia. A people whose heroes live not only in the past, but all around us — defending hope, pride, and the American way.”

Or will I make a big deal about the part of the speech where President Trump lauded 12 year old Preston Sharp who started a movement to plant American flags on the graves of veterans across the nation and at the same time take a swipe at the NFL players who do not stand during the national anthem when he said, “Preston’s reverence for those who have served our nation reminds us why we salute our flag, why we put our hands on our hearts for the Pledge of Allegiance and why we proudly stand for the national anthem,

…and lastly I wouldn’t dream of making a big deal about how the congressional black caucus sat on their collective hands when President Trump announced the highest employment rate in history not only for African Americans but Hispanics as well!

I wouldn’t normally go around with such a puffed up chest
looking down on the democrats
when I know the republicans are scarcely any better
but knowing the mass media will never
give the President any complements for doing a good job
I thought I would give him an ata-boy
just to see if Nancy Palosi’s face
could get any more twisted
than it was
at the state of the union
