Sanctuary cities, not in Texas…. at least until the aclu finds a liberal judge.

May 8, 2017

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Sunday night signed what he calls a ban on so-called “sanctuary cities” that allows police to ask about a person’s immigration status and threatens sheriffs with jail if they don’t cooperate with federal authorities.

……and you can be sure the aclu and other pro illegal immigration organizations are not far behind with filing challenges in court, but I have to ask why, other than someone who supports violating laws already on the books would someone challenge this new law?

Being a realist I know this law has no chance of making it unscathed through the court system. After all our President tried twice to pass an executive order pertaining to the restriction of immigration into the United States and even he was overruled by our court system, so what chance does a mere Governor have. Even though both laws deals in their own ways with attempts to protect the citizens of this nation, both the law and executive order are considered by some as racist or bigoted.

Growing up my parents drilled into me
that all laws were to be obeyed
without question
and if a law was wrong
people should work to change it
not disobey it
apparently now in this new day and age
we are free
to choose what laws to abide by.

Only time will tell regarding sanctuary cities AND the President’s effort to restrict entrance to some deemed a threat to our national security. Personally I think both efforts will prevail in the end; the Feds will prevail over sanctuary cities, and those deemed a threat (i.e. being from terrorism-prone nations) will face enhanced scrutiny before being allowed entry to our country! In the end, it’s all about protecting and defending our country, the rest is BS.

Very true Mike I only lament that we may never get a hold on stopping those ‘home grown’ terrorists who are so easily converted through ‘social media’.

We can stop the home grown variety too, Pete. We have the Second Amendment, A few armed folks in the Orlando dance hall shooting could have stopped that shooter dead on the dance floor! Hell, he was posting to facebook between reloads. He was a punk!!

This move to ignore laws has been fostered by the increased refusal of many folks to accept responsibility for their own actions. If one of the younger generation feels like they’ve been put upon they feel they have a right to complain, protest and seek some form of recompense. So if they decide a law is ‘not right’ they find no problem with ignoring it. In the end it all goes back to how people were raised; I thank goodness I was given a moral compass and a very stout understanding of good and evil…
