We are all sheep!

March 20, 2017

Silence abounds within the endless neurons of my brain, where not even the faint glow of a spark of creativity is glimpsed within its dark recesses. I can not lay this void off on depression or lack of national or world events only because I have like all of you become one of the tens of millions of sheep!

At home the ever present bickering continues over communications being compromised, a new improved ‘destined to fail’ before it is passed into law health care system and a budget the media says is biased toward the military. On the world scene daily thousands of migrants still risk their lives to cross the Mediterranean and flood the nations that do not want them, but the feeding frenzy that the world media once touted as a humanitarian crisis is no longer heard.

The almost daily opposition protests over the election of Donald Trump have faded to a whimper only to be replaced by scattered protests over the new presidential executive orders on immigration and refugees. So our employees, the congressman and senators we elected, have once again resumed a business as usual lifestyle until the next election.

The few of us who watch their actions can clearly see that what we wanted them to do like balance a budget, secure our border and return our health care system to one that is unregulated by the federal government will not happen and we can’t do anything about it. So like we have done for decades we return to our own ‘happy place’ of sports, alcohol, family and resume our lives, only to be herded like sheep in whatever direction the politicians and the media wants us to focus on.

With the physical blessings of youth gone and my ‘fortress of solitude’ just a memory my tolerance level for stupidity coming out of Washington, Juneau and around the world is gone and is now replaced with the adage, ‘if you can’t fight them join them’ or at the very least ignore them. So here I sit at 71 waiting to see what direction the wind will blow hoping it is but a breeze not a gale force wind that will sweep us away.

During the election we voted in favor of stronger national security
yet we are outraged that it will effect the budget
of human services and public broadcasting.

During the election we voted to stop the flood of illegals and refugees
yet many were upset when the President
issued his executive order.

During the election we voted for a more prosperous economy
yet even with less unemployment and more jobs
being created
we protest that it is not enough.

Even though the congressman and senators we just elected are
once again enacting laws with strings to big business
we no doubt will re-elect them.

…are we not a heard of sheep
that travels in whatever direction the wind blows?

To what end is this designed? Hasn’t it always been from generation to generation? And in this insane world in which we want off the merry-go-round, we continue to spin until the end. I hear you Pete. It gets so frustrating being surrounded by corruption at all levels and people just accept it instead of standing against it.

Those with the gift of youth can still deal with the aggravation and futility of fighting the system, but others like myself nearing this journey’s end find it hard to continue the seemingly never-ending battle with the powers that be.

The end results of any election of a bipartisan system is never any good, because we have only the choice of the lesser of two evils, and yet, if we don’t vote, then, we run the risk of having someone we hate more getting elected, so that, i guess, would be the modern day dilemma of ANY sort of elections these days, and, as the newly elected president does something that we feel is wrong or disliked, there’s, nothing we can do, but watch the nation we live in go to ruins…

Your words speak the truth and I agree it was a choice of the lessor of two evils but I never expected Trump to side with the establishment like he is doing with the health care bill. I guess, in my case, getting older does not make one wiser!

No matter what, it seems the outhouse is still the outhouse and until it is completely drained/cleaned/removed we cannot put a better structure in its place. Media used to at least shine a light on the outhouse in the dark, yet they are focused on the bear trails to see if they can locate his outhouse and end up trekking the whole party into the Bears Den (which is slowly waking from his Winter Slumber).

kd7ltn I really like your analogy, and wish I had thought of it for one of my postings. It is true that until the outhouse is completely cleaned and the waste is removed our representatives in government will not change. ….and despite a slight shiver from the NSA monitoring my lowly blog I must quote Thomas Jefferson “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants”.

It is your various postings that ‘inspired’ the analogy, so in a way you did think of it. HiHi… as far as listening ears go.. at least you have enough to say to draw attention, whilst methinks I’m too far below the radar to get noticed…LOL

I’m gettin old; I may move with the wind as it blows, or not; I tell the grand kids that I’m a curmudgeon; as for sheep, I’d be the sheepdog! The game ain’t over, ’till it’s over.
