It may be in the 20’s back home… but Trump and Hillary’s campaign heats up!

tolovana-fall

September frost and ice on the Tolovana river

Every morning I wake and after my coffee brews go outside in hopes of being greeted by cool air and a breeze, and each morning… I am disappointed. Whenever I am away from my home in Alaska I check a remote weather station located near my cabin and the past week I observed a number of nights in the 20’s with daytime highs of mid 50’s. I am sure by now I would have had the stove on for a couple hours each morning to ‘take the chill off’ the cabin… sadly here in Texas I still haven’t turned off the air conditioning

This weather aberration, which for me the cooler fall weather of Alaska for the past twenty years was the norm, could be applied to the encounter last night between Clinton and Trump. One spinning tales of how he would handle different situations and the other regurgitating the same lies she told to the FBI and congress.

I am sure Trump, just like each of us, was merely voicing what we have thought over the years. Everyone of us has encountered a news report and said why the hell didn’t they do this or that not based on experience or in-depth knowledge of what actually happened but a visceral gut reaction to the incident. Well Mr Trump is no different when asked about how he would handle a situation he spoke from the heart presumably not based on anything but his feelings. It is true over time one learns how to handle different situations through experience… but do we want this man learning on the job as our next President?

Like I have written in previous postings Hillary is just being Hillary… no matter what situation you find her in she will act in a manner that benefits Hillary and if it is wrong she will lie about it. When asked about secure emails on her personal server she again said there were none, yet as I reported in an earlier post the FBI investigation has proven she did have confidential emails. Last night as she faced the nation she shed all blame for any actions that fed fuel on the conflict in the middle east, this is akin to a little boy telling his parents it wasn’t him that broke the window… so do you want another lair as your President?

I watched the Presidential forum last night
in hopes of finding a few breadcrumbs of hope
for one candidate or the other
instead I am still stuck with
the lesser of two evils.

What about third party or independents? Spend your vote on someone you support.

The Kenai isn’t that cold yet! We did dip to the high 40’s the other day. And yeah— between two evils.

I’m not surprised as the name ‘Clinton’ is synonymous with ‘the fix is in’. And, don’t forget, we’ve has almost eight years of Obama’s ‘most open and transparent administration’ to train ‘we the people’ to accept all the lies, the deceit and the spin… We dropped to 33.8° F this morning and there’s a freeze advisory for the Anchorage bowl and Matanuska Valley over the weekend; fall is making her presence known!

You sound like such an Alaskan. That’s good, a compliment I think.

Thanks! I take it as a real compliment. I’ve lived seven miles south of Talkeetna in semi-rural conditions for a bit over three years now. It was a dream of mine to live in Alaska since I first visited the state in September of ’96 with a couple of college buddies on a backpacking/car camping trip. Had to wait until I retired and my folks passed on before I could make the dream a reality. I love it up here and cannot imagine ever living suburban again let alone doing so in the lower 48!

Yes, it’s a sorry situation to be sure, when we can’t get 100% behind either candidate. Weatherwise, it’s 92 degrees here in southeastern Pennsylvania!
