I had to post this because… well after living for twenty years in Alaska this is what I am used to.

If you click on the link you will get the story as posted in the newspaper.

Fairbanks Newsminer June 21, 2116 – Summer has officially begun in the Northern Hemisphere, but the Brooks Range apparently hasn’t received the message. The National Weather Service office in Fairbanks predicted 5 inches of snow in parts of the Brooks Range on Tuesday.

I guess that’s why I left my snow boots

and Carhartt overalls at the cabin!

I think that you will not miss those boots very much, Pete.

Hey Buddy – I’d imagine the snow is gone now as clear weather has moved back into the area along with moderating temps. That general area will be warming up and surpassing this area for high temps which isn’t all that uncommon for the late June through August time period. We hit 72.8° F yesterday and may reach 70° F today before cooling back into the middle sixties across the weekend with some showers. Looks like we may come up just a bit short of the normal precipitation for June but not by much. This far we’ve seen a pretty ‘typical’ spring into summer with the air temps being a bit above normal but then this has been an ongoing thing…

Looks like a quirk in the advance of summer. Next week the days will be getting shorter already. Just checked the DOT road report for the state & didn’t see anything at all; probably already melted if not some slush going over the pass.
After sticky Wed. here a front came through last night & wish I would’ve brought a jacket this morning.
Pete, if you miss the boots just look longingly at the pic of getting water at -20 & you’ll get over it! LOL!!
