Gun registration…. my two cents

January 5, 2016

As I sit and write this the President is about to make a speach talking about his executive orders reguarding background checks and other gun control measures that he pakfeels will curb the violence occuring across this nation. Common sense dictates that his actions are nothing but a smoke screan and will have no detrimental effect on gun violence. One has only to look at the facts that over 21,000,000 background checks were processed in 2015 and not one of these stoped the gang murders in Chicago, or the Islamic Terrorist slaughter in California. He says he wants to hire over 200 new FBI agents to handle the background checks, maybe if we had those 200 agents looking for potential terrorists that have overstayed their visas we could indeed have stopped a number of future attacks.

In fact Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the nation already, and the murder rate there is not going down. California like Chicago has the same strict regulations for purchasing firearms but also has passed a law where anyone can report on a neighbor, spouse or total starnger for acting violently and the police must invistage and they can remove that persons firearms if they find a history of violence.

Now I am sure the president knows full well his actions will have no impact on gun deaths in Americia, but I am thinking he has another agenda. Sometime in the future, when he comes back after another senslesss murder or terrorist attack, and says that the only way to prevent this continuing violence is a federal registry of every firearm in the United States, we will finally see what he was planning all along.

The Islamic Terrorist in California had a background check

The street gangs in Chicago

do not buy there guns from licensed gun dealers and

bad guys are not effected by gun laws

So to stop bad guys with guns

you need

good guys with guns

Always two ways to look at anything. Positive or negative. I strongly agree with you and that it is not going to do anything. When there are enough guns on the street for ever one is the US already, stopping a few more guys getting onto the streets is not going to help. However, the positive part is that it is a step in the right direction, however small it is. It is one more tiny step in making guns sellers a little bit more accountable to who they are selling to. Hey, it might stop ONE person from getting a gun and harming themselves or someone else. So that is a step in the right direction.

I don’t mind the background checks. It seems a common sense thing although I don’t think it will do much. Maybe something somewhere. I do think he’s trying to make his mark…first with the ridiculous Iran deal (which I’m sure will be looked at as a disaster for his “legacy”) and now this gun law. I wonder what else will happen before he leaves office.

I am worried about where all of this is headed. I remember a quote from long ago but I don’t remember who said it: “The one who confiscates your guns is your executioner.”
