Why Paris?

November 14, 2015

My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of those murdered in Friday nights terrorist attacks in Paris. France has shown humanity and compassion for the many Syrian refugees moving to France or crossing through its border, so one has to wonder why shouts of “for Syria” and “ala-Akbar” were heard as the terrorists shot and killed so many.

I am presently working on my last posting before leaving for Texas and wanted to maintain my neutrality towards any national or world news, but this attack has me perplexed enough to comment. One must wonder ‘why Paris’, what has the nation of France done to warrant such a long planned well thought out attack? What possibly could be the benefit from attacking civilians in France? I am sure those who masterminded this attack knew it would inflame the world community to even greater resolve to bring down terrorists organizations, so why seek out more vengeance?

I am sorry to say this old curmudgeon has no answers only consternation at what may lurk even deeper in the minds of those who rule these terrorists organizations. The fact that it was reported today, Saturday, that one of the terrorists killed had a Syrian refugee ID on him solidifies my opinion that unbridled acceptance of thousands of Syrian refugees is an invitation to disaster.
We can not just open the border
to anyone
and not expect to see
another disaster
like what happened in Paris.

Pete. What has become of humanity and civilized countries when we even consider the possibility of leaving millions of Syrians to starve, and freeze in the streets in fear that a couple might have ulterior motives. These woman, children and elderly are fleeing this very this. How can anyone with any sense of compassion close their doors to the meek and weary, to the starving people of this world just in the ” small” chance that some might do them harm.
One fact remains : today Americans murdered on average 90 of there own and another 60 were wounded , what borders will we close to stop this.
I know we all have knee jerk reactions. It is easy to close our doors and eyes and hope that the ” boogey man” will go away. However, he never will.

I agree that we should very carefully examine who we let into USA. They should have a pristine history and skills that we need.
I am perplexed as to what ISIS wants; perhaps we are just looking at the face of evil! What human beings go around killing and maiming others?

Thus far we have been diligent and very lucky but the latter cannot last forever and the former requires just one failure to see something akin to the attacks in France burst onto our collective consciousness. Regardless of what anyone says – and this means you, Hillary Clinton – the only way to deal with such savages is to utterly and completely destroy them. France was a target because with so many new refugees it was relatively easy. With the Liar in Chief about to foist off who knows how many refugees on this country we should be worried…VERY Worried!!

I completely agree that we should not accept any refugees at this time. I read that the people who coordinated this attack used phone apps that were undetectable by western technology. Whatever that means in detail I’m not sure, but it sure didn’t sound encouraging. I don’t care how thorough they think our government says the refugees will be vetted, it won’t be good enough.

I’m with you Pete on not letting any of these people in. We don’t know anything about them & while I get Michael’s point, with what’s happened in recent days in the world, no.
Meanwhile, in Mpls. as I write, protesters have shut down a part of I-94 in Mpls. to protest a shooting by police of a young black man who apparently was fighting off para-medics from treating a victim of an assault by this same man. Police are arresting these protesters as they should. I don’t think the white community would do this.

Pete, have a safe trip to Texas. Maybe we’ll chat again, sort of our Christmas tradition, eh?
