You can’t change the weather!

October 26, 2015

It was right in front of me all this time but I could never truly make the connection between that old comment about everyone talking about the weather but nothing can be done about it, and politics….

Many of you are familiar with the satellite imagery of the United States weather, showing at times a complex view of varying configurations of clouds. Some looking like the brush strokes of a master painter, others appearing as if some demon was angry at the world. One night as my addled mind stared unfocused at these varied patterns a mental image slowly came into focus and I realized my fate.

For weeks now when I have sat down to write about events or situations that arise in our nation and around the world, and a ‘wisp’ of an all-encompassing thought drifted through my mind. For brief instants I can almost grasp a personal revelation to why things are happening but it does not linger, and like a dream we briefly remember when we wake I can not hold on to it. But the other night watching that weather image…. it resolved into vivid clarity.

I think ‘we-the-people’ are like those cloud patterns. Our daily lives are focused on our daily survival or anger and rage at some injustice. The swirling hurricane like patterns are masses of people joining together focused on venting at some injustice, but like the weather map shows it does not fully effect the weather pattern of the entire nation just a small portion of it.

Those that run our country know this and count on the fact that no matter what important event happens it will never reach out and embrace the entire country and force our leaders into action. They also know that just like a weather pattern there is nothing a small mass of people can do to alter it.

Yes we are indeed fated
to either go along with the changes
or stand alone
and scream our defiance
into that wind.

History is chock-full of civilizations & countries where the sheep suffer the consequences of going along, daring to question authority, & trusting the “leadership”.

Without question at some point ‘we the sheep’ need to look up!
