No Thanksgiving in Ferguson Missouri
I was young at the time of the demonstrations organized by doctor Martin Luther King and others in support of civil rights, but I was well aware of the reason for these demonstrations. I even participated in a number of them in Philadelphia while still a teenager, but what I witnessed last night was not a demonstration but anarchy!
I do not have access to television out here in the wilderness but I did see pictures the various networks displayed of the President in one half of the photograph and the senseless destruction, vandalism and pilferage of random business without connection to the death of Michael Brown on the other half. While the President was saying in his news conference “first and foremost, we are a nation built on the rule of law, and so we need to accept that this decision was the grand jury’s to make” we watched hundreds of people burning police cars and destroying over 20 businesses in Ferguson.
I also noted that across the nation in LA, Philadelphia and NY there were also demonstrations, at times bordering on riots. What I found interesting was that in almost all of these the protesters had signs that were pre-printed meaning someone had planed these events. What possible purpose would someone have to incite people to riot and more to the point who would do that? Could there be some hidden ‘puppet master’ orchestrating these protests for the purpose of civil unrest? Could they have a hand in the violence seen in Ferguson, even though Mr Brown’s mother called for peaceful demonstrations?
For what it is worth the police in Ferguson showed restraint and held back as the mob acted like locusts destroying everything in their path. The actions of the Ferguson police last night just proved my words in the previous posting, ‘America the greatest nation’, because if this were China demonstrators would have been killed and tanks would fill the streets of Ferguson. Today of course the media is asking why the police did not do more to prevent this mass destruction which means that they, the police, cannot win no mater what they do. When Mr Brown was killed the police moved in aggressively to quell the riots and were charged with police brutality today they are charged with standing by while the town burned…they can’t win.
So what is the answer?
I am not totally ignorant of the fact that there are some police that are prejudice and we should do everything we can to weed them out, but I feel they are in the minority. I must then go back to my theory that the family structure has broken down and that on the whole we as a nation have lost our moral compass and our respect for others. For what its worth I suggest you search my blog for the word respect, because I have already written quite a bit about what I believe is lacking in today’s society.
Without the role model of a father and mother to emulate
and the principles of morality and respect they would impart
Ferguson is but a direction sign
of a nation
on a downward spiral.
