Breaking news…April 29, 2014
If you have followed my blog for any length of time ‘breaking news’ is not what I do, but lately I have been doing a number of things that are not my norm. In any event ‘every’ news broadcast today by all the networks I listened to have lead or focused on the failure of the minimum wage bill to be passed by the Senate.
This to me this is not news, but the way the subject was presented is. On each of these broadcasts the commentator states, “today the minimum wage bill was defeated by Republicans in the Senate”, then they go on to say the vote was 54 to 42 against the bill. First off the Senate is lead by the Democrats and it has been a very long time since any bill a Republican wanted was passed by this ( Democratically ) controlled body. Even the President today said that this will be an issue, for the Republicans, in the fall elections. I wonder if the Democrats who also voted to block the bill will be talking about it in their campaigns?
It just seemed to me that all the news outlets were reading from the same page,
and this is just another example of our biased news media.
Spin, spin, spin..! Your point is well taken and reflects the undeniable charge that ‘the Fourth Estate’ is no longer doing its job of standing watch over government activities. Did you see the latest emails regarding Benghazi? Some AP reporter has a multi-round ‘conversation’ regarding the Fox News Channel reports on the aftermath of Benghazi with Victoria Nuland (she was the idiot mouthpiece for the State Department since promoted to some higher position). In the exchange the AP ‘reporter’ sounds more like an employee of the White House than a supposedly unbiased watchdog! He repeatedly asks if Nuland’s seen the ‘BS’ Fox is spouting and wants to know if he can do anything to assist the White House. This is our Fourth Estate; the force that is charged with reporting to ‘we the people’ on governmental activities and especially fraud, waste and questionable activities..??? There is no ‘Fourth Estate’ if the party in power is liberal and true, unbiased journalism has long been dead in this country.
