$Merry Holidays$…humbug!

You would think someone like myself who never goes into Fairbanks on the weekend because of traffic and the crush of people shopping would never go to a major mall outside Dallas on one of the last Saturdays before Christmas. Maybe it was because of the warmer weather effecting me but I went with my son and grandson and that nearby mall had traffic that was like rush hour in Philadelphia and inside it was a never ending stream of people. Seriously you had to dodge between packages, people and baby strollers to cross to the other side of the mall. I can only imagine if someone tripped, they would probably be stomped on until someone realized there were loose presents on the ground.

Who’s to blame for this artificial mass hysteria? Once again I point my finger unlovingly at the media, and  I am especially including the blood suckers in the advertising agencies who financially support all broadcast television. True it is their job to let us know about newer and better made products, but they have taken advertizing to a new level. For the most part the advertizements produced today are now making you feel inferior if you do not have the latest products. Look don’t believe me just think about (why do you really need the newest cell phone), did the old one stop working?

In previous posts I have vilified the news media for being bias and trying to direct public opinion, and once again they have proven their power by shaping, ‘over time’, the way we view what was once called Christmas. I know it has been written about for many years but what happened to Christmas? Why after decades is it now wrong to use the term Merry Christmas? Could it be because it has the word Christ in it?  Or maybe it makes it easier to just have a holiday in which we compete with each other to spend the most money and give the better gift?

I am not an in your face Christian, and I don’t not care what religion you practice (if any) but it seems that for many years now there has been a movement to remove Christianity from the public eye. Yet we are forced by the new political correctness to act with deference to other religions particularly the Muslim faith. And here’s the kicker I don’t care if you are Muslim or for that matter Jewish or even a Druid, it is our right as Americans to worship, or not, in any way we choose.

So as the hordes of shoppers continue to pillage the malls

I will gather with family and friends and

celebrate the Christmas season.
