The end of civilization?

October 2, 2013

Wire service story…many children became clinically
depressed because the government shutdown
has forced the ‘Panda cam’ from the National zoo to be turned off.

How many times in the past six months have we heard that ‘we are facing the collapse of the American way of life’? For those with short memories we heard that statement or something very close to it back when the sequestration was to go into effect and we are hearing in today because our government is shut down. Well sequestration is in full force and yes our ‘bloated’ government had to tighten its belt but the world did not end. Now with the federal government shut down and tens of thousands of government workers on furlough you would think we should actually be saving some money.

This feeling of impending doom was created by the media running around shouting ‘the sky is falling’ and now many Americans think life as they know it will soon come to a standstill. Every newscast has been showing pictures of people being turned away from visiting National parks and showing shots of little children being deprived of a visit to the liberty bell and the statue of liberty. All this just to stir up your emotions against those bad conservatives who are trying to hold off implementing obama care. Every chance they get they also show the senate leadership bad mouthing the republican led congress for shunting down the government.

We hear how the house is holding this country hostage because it wants a one year delay on implementing obama-care. I think that the house would pass a clean budget bill without any mention of health care if the President, who (has already) used his executive authority to give big business a one year waver on obama-care, gave all Americans that same one year waver.

An alternative that I like better is
that congress and the senate be treated like every other American worker.
If you are not doing your job you are fired!

Too bad there is no actual saving of money while they are playing their stupid games in Washington.

The government as the largest employer should convert to provisions of the Affordable Healthcare Act; certainly that would make it more affordable for everyone while reducing the cost of/to government.
