FAIRBANKS – The Alaska Department of Transportation issued a travel advisory for Atigun Pass, 239-242 Mile of the Dalton Highway, this morning.

Winds of 30 to 40 mph are blowing snow across the road, with drifts and low visibility. Up to 5 inches of snow is expected today through Thursday above 3,000 feet, according to the National Weather Service. Chains are recommended due to icy conditions. Weather conditions may make travel difficult through early Friday.

Crews and equipment will be working on the road and drivers are urged to use caution.

Yup, winter’s coming. Even got down to the mid-20s in N. Mn. last Sun.morning. Leaves changing up north, too.

Thanks for the nice postings Pete.

Brrrr…. and here I just got back today from a great 2 weeks of camping and horse riding with no rain, no bugs to speak of, leaves still on the trees, and shirt sleeve temps….ouch…snow, I sure hope it stays up there in the north for a while longer, It is raining here right now, guess I got home just in time.

So far there hasn’t been any frost here, just chilly enough that a fire in the evenings feels great. I think that is about to change tonight though. Forecast is freezing. Like they are ever right, lol.
