Birth of a Nation

June 29, 2010

The forth of July, for children is a time of parade’s, BBQ’s and fireworks. As they get older they are taught in school, (at least I hope it is still taught), that it is on that day that the Declaration of Independence was signed by the founding fathers of our nation. This document announced that we were free from rule by people living thousands of miles away.

Since that day in 1776 many lives have been given to keeping this document alive. I thank & pray for every person who has ever served & died in defense of our country and its ideals. The freedom we enjoy in our daily lives would not exist if not for that document and those that protect it.

To many adult’s look at the 4th of July through children’s eyes…the parade, BBQ and fireworks, and forget that freedom is not free. We must continually be on the watch for those who want to erode the truths found in the deceleration on independence, the constitution and the bill of rights. These people who want to change our very way of life are not always living in a foreign country. Our president, the congress & senate and the supreme court are daily eroding these freedoms. Not with major brush strokes but with the constant changing of the laws that hold our nation together.

As a people we are ‘too busy’ to monitor the day to day actions of our elected officials. Sometimes we do not see the bigger picture until all the small pieces are put together, and then we say my God how can they do that and get away with it. Easy we let them. On this fourth of July I ask you to open your eyes just a little & be more interested in the actions of our government. Find out more about who is running in the elections, how do they think who do they support. If they are in office look at there record on how they voted…then go out and vote for someone who believes in the freedoms that were written 234 years ago. If we..you and I..do not do this we will wake up one morning and this country will be a very different place to live in for us and our children.

To protect and defend
God – family – country

Boy you sure hit the nail on the head. I just wish more people would feel the same. Our entitlement environment is ruining this document. People are to soft these days.
Quote by Frederick Bastiat ” when plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men living together in society , they create for themselves in the course of time a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that justifies it.”

Wow, what a fantastic post and so true, too. I hope but have my doubts this is still being taught in schools ( too politically incorrect ) y’know. You’re right, instead of supporting our country’s ideals and principals, this administration is more interested in apologizing for our so-called arrogant past and seem bent on spending us down to the same levels as the rest of the world. What happened to that “shining city on the hill”? Dangerous sentence..”I’m from the government and I’m here to help.”

But alas XPipelyner I think it might be too late unless the dumb masses open their eyes to this and learn what made this country great………. To many people with their hands in our wallets like the regime we have now… I hope and pray for the best though……..

I have read your posts as well…….. Keep the faith……… Del
